Ube Coconut Latte · Vietnamese Café
Vivid purple, naturally sweet, and built on bold Vietnamese robusta. The Ube Coconut Latte is one of Vancouver's most-photographed drinks — and one of our best.
Order NowUbe is a purple yam that's been a staple of Filipino and Southeast Asian cuisine for centuries. Its naturally sweet, vanilla-like flavour and striking purple colour have made it one of the most popular ingredients in Asian-inspired drinks and desserts across North America.
At Hanoi Drip, we've combined ube with another Southeast Asian tradition: Vietnamese phin drip coffee. Our Ube Coconut Latte pairs ube syrup and creamy coconut milk with a shot of bold robusta coffee brewed through the traditional phin filter. It's sweet, aromatic, and visually stunning — and it's become one of our most-ordered drinks.
The vivid purple comes from real ube extract — no artificial dyes. Every cup is naturally beautiful.
We use creamy coconut milk instead of dairy, giving the latte a tropical richness that complements the ube perfectly.
The bold, slightly bitter robusta coffee base cuts through the sweetness of the ube and coconut, creating a balanced, complex drink.
Vancouver's café scene has embraced ube enthusiastically, and for good reason. The city's large Filipino and Southeast Asian communities have long celebrated ube in desserts, ice cream, and pastries. Seeing it in coffee is a natural evolution.
What makes Hanoi Drip's version distinctive is the Vietnamese coffee foundation. Most ube lattes in Vancouver use espresso — we use robusta phin drip, which is stronger, more complex, and deeply rooted in Vietnamese café culture. The combination of ube, coconut, and phin coffee is uniquely ours.
Available hot or iced at all three Hanoi Drip locations. Ask your barista for the full seasonal menu.
